Fight Magazine April 2008

The mixed martial arts phenomenon is now worldwide. Discussions of the latest UFC take place in coffee shops, at the water cooler, and even during family meals. As the popularity of the sport has developed , so have the techniques and methods used in the ring/cage/octagon. MMA has developed into a style of its own. But that was not always the case..

This magazine's issue featured Bruce Lee and an article about Jeet kune Do.

Jeet Kun Do or JKD, Jeek Kune Do, is a martial art- and life- philosophy founded by philosopher, martial artist, and actor Bruce Lee. It´s not a style of martial arts like karate, Wing Chun, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai or other more traditional arts. What sets Jeet Kune Do apart from traditional styles of martial arts is that it´s not fixed or patterned. It is a philosophy with guiding thoughts.

In 2004, the Bruce Lee Foundation decided to use the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do (振藩截拳道) to refer to the martial arts system that Lee founded. "Jun Fan" was Lee's Chinese given name, so the literal translation is "Bruce Lee's Way of the Intercepting Fist."
